Random disconnects.

I bought an R7000 about a week ago now. My other router kept going wonky on me, could not take any load for any amount of time and was generally a miserable experience.

Now, for my problem with the R7000: I keep having random disconnects. During this time, the internet totally cuts off. The Genie tells me my internet has disconnected. It then resumes normal operation within like 5 or maybe 8 seconds. This happens from once to three times ever hour. I tried upgrading firmware, and custom firmware. Any help for me? Thanks!

Do you have any experience with ReadyNAS?

Just one and I sent it back.
  • I don't think this problem is directly caused by ReadyShare. I have never enabled it and still experienced the constant internet disconnects.

That said, it's not impossible that ReadyShare triggers or exacerbates the issue.
  • I have connected the PTV3000 to Smart TV, then I see a Quick Steps screen and goes to the next screen and on reaching the next screen the device restarts itself repeatedly.
  • I was having disconnects for 4 weeks at least twice a day, Thought it was the nighthawk r7000 but it turned out to be my Netgear DG834GT modem that probably could not handle the speed tried all sorts r7000 kong ddrwt put it in modem only mode still disconnected.

Hooked up a very old thomson speedtouch 546v6 I had lying around all sorted not 1 freeze or disconnect in last 4 days :) love the r7000 blazing fast.

For those who have R7000, kindly try to use the beta fw 1.0.5.62.

I'm using V1.0.6.28_1.1.83 and experiencing random internet disconnects a few times a day. This problem started a couple weeks ago. 1.0.5.62 sounds like a downgrade from 1.0.6. Am I misunderstanding the meaning of these version strings? Would you recommend I try switching to this beta 1.0.5.62 if my current firmware seems higher than that?
