WLAN config changes not possible

Hi Guys,

I got a problem with my R8000.

At the moment its broadcasting the default configured SSID, but for security purpose I want to configure my own SSID / PSK.

But this doesn't seems to be possible.

When I try to save a change on the SSID / PSK Menu, it gets cancelled: This DFS-Channel cant be used because a radar gets detected. (Error message in german, I translated it, so therefore it could be, that it isnt the exact error message on a english ui)

BUT: The error appears even if the second 5G-Radio isn't even turned on, so therefore this shouldnt bother.

Further, the first 5G-Radio is sending on a non-DFS-Channel, so this couldnt be the problem either.

For me this seems to be a bug.

I'm using V1.0.3.4_1.1.2 which seems to be the latest version.

kind regards,

Andreas

  • Hi,

sorry, I forgot to write an answer in this topic since James forwarded the Support Contact informations to me in private.

The problem has been solved by installing the firmware "V1.0.2.44_1.0.96" on my R8000.

I'm not sure about the latest version for your EX6150, but for my R8000 the (in my opinion) stable version was listed under the previous versions section.

In your case I would suggest to install several of the older versions, and try to change the configuration to see, if the error appears again.

    kind regards,

    Andreas

  • Hi Ikarus92,

Can you post the exact error message to check what seem to be the problem.

      Hi James,

the error message "This DFS channel is not allowed to use because the Radar was detected before. You can change another channel or wait" appears after I did any configuration changes on the following menu:

In Advanced -> Setup -> Wireless Setup

But as I already reported, the second 5G-Radio isn't even active (has been deactivated under: Advanced -> Advanced Setup -> Wireless Settings) and on the first 5G-Radio there isn't a dfs-channel choosen. It's running on channel 44

      kind regards

        Hi Ikarus92,

Did you configure the smart connect of the router?

  • I have the exact same problem & get the exact error about 'DFS channel not allowed & radar was detected before'. It appears to be a bug.

I'm using the EX6150 AC1200 wifi extender & it's been installed & configured for a few months & was working without issues. Now about once a week, for no reason, the EX6150 drops the 5Ghz connection to my router (which is handling DHCP). When I try to reconnect the 5Ghz either manually or using the wizard, the EX6150 will not let me save my extisting wifi network info, and returns the error about DFS channel & radar being detected before. So I'm stuck. However, if I cycle power to the EX6150, it sometimes starts working normally again, yet other times it does not.

THIS APPEARS TO BE A NETGEAR BUG!

This post was perfectly relevant to my issue, but NetGear did not post a solution. Only told OP to check their inbox.

What is the problem? And what is the solution ?
