Brand New RS700 terribly slow speeds

Upgraded from a nighthawk  RAXE500 to a new RS700.

with the old router I would get 890 down 800 up wired.  700d 700u wireless.

With the RS 700 I am only getting 300 down 25 up. I’ve reset the ONT, I have rebooted the router. Firmware is up-to-date QOS is off. I basically tried everything. I can think of and cannot make it any better. If I’m wired directly to the modem, my speeds are perfectly normal.

If I hook the old router back up, my speeds are normal again. Is the RS700 just a terrible Wi-Fi router? Seems like for the money. It should be a decent one.

Any help would be appreciated

  • Yes, definitely upgrade then manually to latest version. It fixes some issues. IF, you run into problems like some others. Hopefully you won’t like myself, revert back to firmware you are on now.

  • What firmware version are you running? This is definitely abnormal and should not be happening. You also might have got a bad unit. The auto update firmware is not pushing out the latest version btw. You need to install it manually by downloading it from the Netgear website. Some folks have reported issues with that version though and a trial one is available by reaching out to Netgear. I’m also not sure why Netgear continues to leave up the reported problematic latest firmware on their website. At the same time, in my case. I have not had issues with it myself. YMMV

Try downgrading FW back on prior version?
Has been some known issues with this current version of FW.
