media server not connection to wired connection
r300 router sees hard drive, my samsung s90d connections to media server when connected wirelessly, but
when I connect my samsung s90d tv to a wired connection the media server does not show on tv.
Am I doing something wrong.
Please advise. Gjl1950

Even when the OP replied, they didn't add any information to their original post
Actually they confirmed that they are using the media server in the router, and not something else. And that the ethernet is connected to a router LAN port.

Well, I think the place to start is to double-check that the ethernet connection itself is working correctly.

The "media server" built into routers is pretty anemic. The only half-decent one was on the R9000 with built-in Plex.
I'd try the one on the tv. If it doesn't work with the built-in hard drive, I'd check into picking up something with built-in or optional transcoding. Plus then it'd stream to your other devices decently.
A cheap N150 pc would do it that you could install plex of jellyfin to. Or even a nvidia shield with plex built in would be a great upgrade. Or even an old pc sitting around

Something is wrong if it works on wifi but not ethernet.
Personally I use Plex running on a PC myself, but the DLNA server in the router is ok if you don't need transcoding.

That's not a media server - if Gjl1950 uses it, then that TV is the only device that can play the content.

In answer to the hard drive connection to the router. It is plugged into the usb on the router so I'm using the routers media server which I can connect wirelessly to my tv. But when I connect to my tv with a
wired connection through a Lan port, I cannot see the built in media server. I hope this clears things up a little bit. If any more information is needed I will supply as soon as I can.
Thanks

Also, have you tried a different LAN port on the router?

Is the ethernet connected to an RS300 LAN port?

Might just try connecting the hard drive to the tv. Then you don't have to worry about transmitting the data.

Worth testing. But whether that is a useful solution depends on where else you might want to play the media.
Gjl1950 hasn't responded since the initial post, so it's not clear if this is still a concern or not.

Contact the TV Mfr and ask for help and support regaring the TV connecting with media sources on a home wifi router.
Might ask about FW updates for the TV as well.
Check the TVs user manual for information regarding connecting to media sources.

If not, please give some more details on what the server is and how it is connected to your network.
