RS500

Hello,

I upgraded my router because Netgear said they would no longer support.  My upgrade is to a RS500.  All my devices except for desk top computer were able to connect to RS500 with the passkey provided.  Spoke to customer service several times, and tried all the tricks to have my desk top connect to this router, using the passkey.  The message I receive is "incorrect passkey."  My computer is perhaps 7 years old.  Any suggestions?

Sorry the desktop computer is not close enough to the RS500 to be connected with an Ethernet cable.

Assuming that "passkey" means the WiFi password, when the RS500 was installed did you change the WiFi credentials to exactly match the credentials for the system that is being replaced?

Can you check what the WiFi security setting is (page 71 of the User Manual)

There is a good chance that a seven your old computer cannot support WPA3 security.

    Is this PC wireless?

What is the brand and model# of the wifi adapter in the PC?

Be sure all wireless and ethernet adapter drivers are updated from the chipset Mfr.

What OS is on this desktop PC?

What FW is on the RS router?

What security modes are set on the router for the wireless network?

I once spent FAR too long trying to solve a similar problem only to discover that somehow I had pressed the Caps Lock key (immediately above the shift key) and was typing letters I did not intend to.

(wish there was an option for, "there's nobody looking over my shoulder.  show me the damn LETTERS instead of dots!)
