RS700 and Firmware

I should have saved my confirmation but I didn't. I recently got T-Mobile Metronet Fiber and turned out I has ti do a factory reset on my RS700to get it to work with the Fiber.

I converted it from Comcast. I initially has problems and had to change the firmware *but* after the factory reset i forgot what it was. Now, I am having duplicate ip address issues. (2 devices with the same ip). My question is what the best firmware version to address that situation? 1.07.96, 1.0.9.6, 1.0.9.16

Also, when i change the firmware do I also have to do a factory reset? If I do, do I have to click the press in the reset button on the device or can I do the factory reset from the UI? This is been so long I can't remember now.

  • RS700 running V1.0.11.6 - experienced duplicate IP addresses. I am sure this suggestion will sound as silly to you as it did to me - try re-flashing V1.0.11.6. Yes, sounds silly, but it resolved my problem with duplicate IP addresses. You must download the V1.0.11.6 FW from NG support site and apply the flash from the file using the UI instead of online (Advanced/Admin/Router Update/Manual tab  -select the .chk file from the zip). Please update thread with your results. If it does resolve your problem, we should open a case on FW flash procedure. I have turned off "Auto FW Update" to avoid surprises.

Have you tried rebooting both of those devices?  One might be hanging on to its address (due to a long lease time).

I have and nothing. Sometimes a refresh will happen and it seems to change. Sometimes it doesn't. I have had, not a duplicate, but I had a decide have an ip address of 192.68.0.1. That ip is my gateway. So, I have no idea how it hit there.

but again, when I had Comcast, I had duplicate problems before but I remember, I changed the FW version and the problems went away for quite a while. Now, since I converted to Fiber and did the factory reset (with Premium Support on the line) I got connected to the Fiber. So that worked. Now, however, I have the duplicate problem. I opened another ticket under premium support but they said they would get back to me because it makes zero sense and they are saying what is going on in the router they haven't seen before.

I just figured I would try something/anything in the absence and since the duplicate IP is a common problem with this router I really don't have any hope they will fix it.

        This is a bit garbled.

But it does raise a question - is the RS700 in router mode or is it in AP mode?

What brand and model# is the ISP modem/ONT that the RS router is connected too?
What IP address is set on the RS router?

What brand and model# are these two devices that seem to have duplicate IP addresses?

For my RS700 thats online currently, its connected to a CM3000 cable modem and using 192.168.0.1 for it's address then using 192.168.100 thru .200 for it's default IP address pool size.

FW is current FW v1.0.11.6. Was manually updated then factory reset and setup from scratch.

The ONT is from TMobile Fiber and it's all enclosed so I'm not really sure what model that is.

I have a static IP address that I configured in the router. But I would exclude that because even before I put in the static IP address info and it was going off DHCP.

But I have the local LAN information using the DHCP in the router and that is/and was previously (when I was with Comcast) set to 192.168.0.1.  I have my pool going from 2-254. Again, that was always like that as well - even when I was with Comcast.

Thanks for the info on the factory reset and setup from scratch. I setup a backup so I don't have to repeat all the configuration. (I just did that today actually).

I'd try a factory reset and setup from scratch with out a back up to see if issue continues.

So the ONT is just a ONT or does it have a built in router that you know of?
