Auto Back up with deletion
Hi,
- I want to schedule backup daily from a share in NAS to a Remote Drive using cifs option.
- i have done and it is working fine as one way backup except, Deletion from Destination Drive is NOT happening if i delete from Source drive.
- when next Auto sync happens it deosnot deletes from desitnation drive whatever i have deleted from source drive. so, i have to delete manually from source and destination both, pl help. my firmware is 6.5.2 and model Ready NAs 316 and serial no. is 3C67470S00942
- I want to configure one way back up with deletion from destination drive. pl help.

Thanks it's a Windows 7 64 bit system, can you help me with installation procedure doc for rsync server in Windows client and I think then I have to create share In it as well instead of Windows share folder.i hope rsync server is free...- StephenBGuru - Experienced User
There is a freeware implementation of rsync for Windows called DeltaCopy. I haven't used it myself, but other users have reported success with it. You can find a copy here: http://www.aboutmyip.com/AboutMyXApp/DeltaCopy.jsp

The only way to do what you want with CIFS is to delete the entire destination folder (which is a backup job option) and copy the entire share every time.

thanks for reply , actaully total data size is around 3 tb , we cannot delete on daily basis .
is this possible without CIFS ? local NAS to REMOTE HDD one way back up with delete enabled during sync ?

Yes, the option to delete files on the destination that are no longer on the source is available if you use rsync.
