The NV+ v2 (OS5) default password is also password. Some very old legacy units use infrant1
But if you use ReadyCloud you must have an OS6 unit.
An OS reinstall won't hurt the data, and will reset the admin password to password and the network connection to DHCP (get IP address automatically). It will require a reboot. The best instructions are in the hardware manual for your NAS model. Don't do a factory default, as that will destroy your data.
FWIW, if you forget the NAS password you could write it down and tape it inside the door of the NAS. Though security experts here will cringe, the truth is that anyone with physical access to the NAS can reset the password with OS reinstall procedure mentioned above. So there isn't much additional risk.

Thanks. Sounds like I better stay local. Now, if I could just figure out how to log in, that would be good. It just will not take any of the passwords I have tried. I don't want to reboot and lose my data.

Hi Gruncle1,
You could try using the default ones.
Username: admin
Password: password (OS6 units) or netgear1 (Legacy units).

Thank you. I'll do the reset. It seemed kinda unclear in the manual, but I'll read it again.

The key word is Reinstall. That's what you want to do.
You really don't want to do a factory default (which might be called a reset in some places).
