NV+ and remote file access

Nhellie - thanks so much for the reply. Sorry about the multiple threads. You're right they are better consolidated but my impression was once a thread was more than an day or so old and had at least one reply then it goes by the wayside... I actually started with this thread a few days ago -> viewtopic.php?f=23&t=79493 but I added updates to it in the form of replies and then no one else posted a response - hence my impression. That said I'll stick with this thread.

I did try opening Port 6300 - I saw some other threads on that but I did not try rebooting the NAS after that. I see there are is an option in RAIDiator under the ReadyNAS remote feature to set a custom port. If I do open that port I will obviously need to have my router forward 6300 to the NAS as you say. Will that traffic be secure / encrypted as it is with HTTPS? I assume so since the whole idea of ReadyNAS Remote is to keep the connection secure. Could my NAS somehow be hacked thru 6300? Sorry I realize these are probably elementary questions.
