Skywalker has developed a solution so we can fix this via SSH on the 102 as well.
This has been used by support to fix btwixt's system.
It turns out both the serial number and the MAC address were wrong and needed to be fixed.

BrianL, I'm curious why this person/thread, https://community.netgear.com/t5/ReadyCLOUD/ReadyCloud-won-t-turn-on/td-p/1017850 didn't get the same answer, or non-answer, you gave me? It seems to me you did not read my posting entirely. Having been a NetGear customer for some 17 years now, I'd really like an answer. Oh, and BTW, I am already in a dialog with the support engineers.

Hi btwixt,
I have asked you to contact support to report this issue because it's only evident to OS4 units running 6.4.x Firmware.
Hoping for your kind understanding.
Kind regards,
BrianL

- btwixtDec 15, 2015GuideI really want to understand this. You are saying I have an OS4 unit running FW 6.4.1, right? Is there a typo somewhere on this webpage: http://support.netgear.com/product/RN10200 I looks like OS6 to me.

I think BrianL meant that the thread you linked to was for an OS4 system running 6.4. That one is handled differently as our support team does not support running OS6 on legacy units. However for our legacy Intel units such as the Pro fixing a problem like this is straightforward.
Your unit is an OS6 unit and we obviously support running OS6 on that. OS6 units are less susceptible to having no serial programmed or problems with the EEPROM. On OS6 systems the serial is programmed at the factory and that data is then read and not written to. It's quite rare for some EEPROM data to be missing or incorrectly programmed.
I don't think we can fix the serial number on a 104 unit remotely and if that is the case then only support can give you a resolution to the problem. Furthermore supports need to track issues like this that come up.
If you are unhappy with how a support case has been handled we can arrange for it to be reviewed.- btwixtDec 15, 2015GuideThank you, mdgm. I understood your explanation. My apologies, BrianL. And, yes, I was hoping for a fix via SSH. Support is working the problem but it is beginning to sound like the solution will involve returning the unit. Sincerely, btwixt
