readyCloud Desktop - Network Error/Server unavailable but Web Portal access is fine

Hi,

With the help of the community I sorted a problem gettnig the NAS to access the Internet after the 6.5.0 upgrade.  I use a static IP for IPv4 and had to hardcode my ISP's Primary DNS address.  I can access the Admin page via my LAN and I can access the device via the ReadyCloud/MyNetgear Portal and see all of the shares, etc...

The problem I stil have is that the readycloud desktop client can't sign in.  When I try to log in I get a Network Error message and "ReadyCLOUD server is unavailable".  My PC's internet access is fine, I can access the NAS via the admin page, I can access the device through the ReadyCloud portal.

I have uninstalled the old desktop client and installed the new.  Rebooted everything.  Turned readCloud OFF and back ON on the admin page.

Any ideas why the Desktop client wold be unable to resolve the NAS...if that's the actual problem?  I don't know what else to check and COmmunity Search doesn't turn anything up...at least not with the keywods I'm using.  Hopefuly something stupidly simple.

Thanks,

Rob

  • This is solved.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the desktop client after migration with a new version I downloaded from netgear's website.  Turns out the link was pointing to an old version.  Pretty awful for a migration page to point to an incompatible version.

Used the client's own check for updates function, it found and installed the latest version and all is well.

netgear's user experience is awful.  Can't wait for the next migration.

thanks to all who suggested solutions.
