backup vmware vmdk files?
Has anyone ever tried using a ReadyNAS to store their vmware (.vmdk) files, and then using the ReadyNas vault to back those up?
If so, does it do block-level backup?
(ie, you have a 2 GB .vmdk file, but maybe only 200 MB inside of that file was changed?)

- NASCakeTutorI'm always looking for ways to increase performance with my VM's so if you are planning to run the VM from the NAS I would say don't do it, Don't think it would run well. Try running one from a share on another server.
If you did run your VM's from the NAS I highly doubt the NAS is performing Block-level backup. If you wanted to backup large files It would overwrite the old file.
~NC - efishmanAspirantHi hurnik,
We currently do not do block-level diffs as the files stay encrypted on our servers which make it very difficult to do.
