Genie marketplace is a joke?

The website of genie is joke, right?
It's been decades since I've seen such a badly made website!

And on top of it, IT DOESN'T WORK !

I got a ReadyNAS 104 firmware 6.0.4 and all I get from genie is : NO DEVICES FOUND

So I got no APPs possibilities at all.
Nothing is showing up in APPs.. nothing in installed and nothing in available.

NETGEAR ?? HELP ???

  • Netgear support is not helping me at all, all they were able to say was " install 6.0.4" (which was already installed) .. So i told them I got it already and now they just wont reply.
I even tried the livechat, aand I got someone taking control of my computer via Teamview, just to multiple the account on genie with all my email addresses, for nothing, messing up my password ..etc. A total waste of 2 hours that finished with that support lady telling me that they will contact me back soon (4 days ago)... they never contacted me.
  • I had the same problem - the whole process is not what you could call intuitive at all. After you create your Genie account and log in it will not show any devices until you browse through Frontview and let the device log in also. Hopefully at that point it will show your device though it probably took me half an hour of futzing with it to actually see it work. Of course after you can purchase an app at least in my case it will just uninstall itself for no reason anyway.. :)
  • Have you rubbed the NAS three times and said the magic words - that's how you get the Genie..... I've always found apps come and go, one minute they're installed, the next not...Now you see it...
  • ahpsi,
what do you mean by " until you browse through Frontview " ?

From a local device on the same network, browse to the NAS device UI http://nas_device_IP, you'll see "Apps" page, enter your genie+ Marketplace username/email and password, then the device will start the genie+ Marketplace module in the box.
This is required the first time.

The documentation does not make this clear. It also leaves out the first time prompt of installing Genie; http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/ ... pr2013.pdf

It seems to be covered in the PDF manual starting page #190.
  • It is missing clear definition of the Apps tab, where the core of the market place stuff is done. When you click there the first time, it does the nag prompt to install Genie, that is not covered in the manual.
  • I went through all those steps... yet nothing works...

I'm now dealing with the support team.. for more then a week now.. Level 2 then level 3 technician.. now the engineers team.. Nothing.
