I took the plunge and and popped an E7600 (SLGTD) in my main Pro6. I'm using the stock cooler and the idle & stressed temperatures seem to be identical to the original CPU. I used IC Diamond thermal paste. This was a beta Pro6 unit that was updated to the linked firmware. I'll pull the cover again to check board revision.
Plex transcoding is smooth as butter with everything I've thrown at it.
Best $45 upgrade IMHO.
