Need SMB Plus app

Hi,

I need SMB Plus for my ReadyNas 102 with firmware 6.10.10.

As Applications is no longer available through the web administration page, can some body watch me how to get it and how to install it.

I need it because all my network is on SMB 2 only my Nas is still on SMB 1.

Thanks,

The RN102 runs SMB 3 by default.  The only way it would be limited to SMB 1 is if you changed that with SMB Plus in the past (which would have been a bad idea).  So I think you might be misdiagnosing your problem.

That said, you can download the app from this wayback link:

You can then manually install it by pretending it is a fimware update.  Navigate to system->settings->update in the NAS web ui, and then use the "install firmware" control there.

      Hi,

      Thanks for the link.

I wonder if there is any risk in using "install firmware"

  • The 102 natively supports SMB 2 & 3, you do not need SMB Plus to enable it.  You do need it if you need to disable SMB 1 or 2.

So start with what your actual problem is, not what you believe the solution to be,

      Hi,

I tried with powershell this command

      Get-SmbConnection -ServerName mynas

      I received 1.5.

That tells you what was negotiated,  not what was supported by the NAS.  At this point you don't know why that was the result.

FWIW, it reports 3.1.1 on my PC.

        Try installing nmap from

Then go to the installed directory (c:\Program Files (x86)\nmap on my PC), and run

        ./nmap.exe -p 445 --script smb-protocols mynas

That command will return all the SMB verions supported by myNAS

When I run it, I see this:

        Host script results:
        | smb-protocols:
        | dialects:
        | NT LM 0.12 (SMBv1) [dangerous, but default]
        | 2.0.2
        | 2.1
        | 3.0
        | 3.0.2
        |_ 3.1.1

No issues for this.  The control just uploads the deb file to the NAS and installs it.  It has no idea that the deb file isn't actually firmware.

If you are worried, just downgrade to 6.10.9 temporarily, and manually install it from the apps page.
