Netgear Genie update
I'm using Netgear Genie v. 2.4.10 and it keeps crashing. Trying to update but the update routine hangs on "Getting the description file..." Can't seem to find a download on the Netgear site. I use with ReadyNAS214 and ReadyNASDuo.
Any ideas?
Thanks. The wireshark is useful. Turns out it was my Amazon FireTV stick - problem solved. But the Netgear Genie is pretty neat for tracking network devices and referencing IP and MAC addresses. I'd like to update it and keep it from crashing everytime I open the network map.
Isn't there an easy update to download somewhere? The update from within my current version just hangs up.

Can you clarify why you're trying to use Genie with ReadyNAS? What are you trying to accomplish?

I'm trying to troubleshoot my LAN and WLAN and the Genie is the only software I'm aware of that I have to see all the devices with IP numbers, etc. The Network Map is what keeps crashing.
I seem to have some IP conflicts and trying to figure out what they are and why. I'm not sure if I have an intruder because there is one MAC address I don't recognize.- jak0lantashMentor
This will help identify the manufacturer assigned to the OUI of the MAC address you see (though it's reasonnably easy to spoof a MAC address): https://www.wireshark.org/tools/oui-lookup.html
RAIDar will help check the IP addresses of your ReadyNASes: https://kb.netgear.com/20684/ReadyNAS-Downloads#raidar
