Is there no plan to migrate the community apps to a supported version or is that feature being abandoned completely now ?
I've just got the "app installation no longer supported message" and primarily use plex to serve my media to my tv's in the house which occasionally updates the tv app and forces a required update for the server app, I'm running a RN104 and a RN316

You can of course install it using ssh.
You can also install the plex deb file by going to system->settings->update Click on "Install firmware" and then select the plex deb file. This will work even though plex is not a "firmware update".
