¡NEW errors of disk SMART!

Please, I need help!

I have a ReadyNAS Duo [X-RAID] (v. 1) with two compatible drives HDD Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS Serial ATA (500GB), according the Hardware Compatibility List Hard Disks of Netgear.

The firmware of my ReadyNAS Duo is RAIDiator 4.1.10.

The health state of the disk is OK everywhere.

I´ve made different disk test and it´s all right, even I tested the pair of HDD disk with the official SeaTools, the diagnostic tool that checks the health of drives Seagate.

Also I upgraded the firmware of the two compatible HDD Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS to the last version, CC49, and I´ve repeated the check of health of drives with the official SeaTools, the diagnostic tool, and it´s all right or OK.

I ´ve been a long time I receive the next email from the ReadyNAS alerts:

The reallocated sector count has increased in the last day.

There was 1:
   Previous count: 3816
   Current count: 3849

There was 1 failed SMART self-test. Replace this disk as soon possible.

An increase of SMART errors indicate that the disk is likely to fail soon. If errors are increasing, be prepared to replace the disk.

Now I don´t receive this alert, I´ve been receiving since a pair of weeks ago the next email alert from my ReadyNAS:

There was 1 failed SMART self-test. Replace this disk as soon possible.

An increase of SMART errors indicate that the disk is likely to fail soon. If errors are increasing, be prepared to replace the disk.

Even I tried to replace the disks by another pair identical. I have four drives equal and I tried to change but then, I was continued receiving the same alert!!!

But the disks are OK according the ReadyNAS Frontview and according the different test I did with SeaTools.

I´m going to be CRAZY!!!

Which is the health of my disks? What it´s happend?

Can anybody help me, please?

Thanks!

Do you have a USB disk connected? If so, the errors are probably on that disk.

Assuming no USB disks are connected... (hopefully one is!)

I don't believe Seatools lets you see the SMART stats. You can see them with other free tools, including acronis drive monitor (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/pr ... e-monitor/).

So maybe try installing that program and looking at the SMART stats in Windows. Since they are maintained in the drive (and by the drive firmware) the reallocated sector counts should match.

Also, I think the SMART self-test is also run by the drive. So Seatools and the NAS should be executing the same test.

If the SMART stats look ok on the PC (0 reallocated sectors, not ~4000) then it seems likely that something is wrong in the NAS hardware or firmware. For instance, a failing SATA interface, or a power brick problem. Also, are the drive temps normal?

I'm not thinking of any obvious way the firmware could do this, but you could try an OS reinstall (or upgrading to 4.1.12).
