104 support for 6TB hdds and Fan Replacement question
Hi there, I think about buying a ReadyNAS 104 but there are two things that I have to get clear first (burned child). 1.) I wait for a firmware that supports 6TB HDDs because I have a lot of big...
1) The 104 does not support volumes larger than 16TB in capacity. So whilst using 6TB drives should be possible with some RAID configurations it isn't with others. With high capacity disks for performance reasons anyway the 314 would be a better choice.
2) Replacing the fan does void the warranty. The 104 has a 3 year limited hardware warranty and the 314 has a 5 year limited hardware warranty. Depending on what fan you choose the NAS may think it has a problem. Considering all new 104 purchases should still be under warranty I don't think many users would have looked into this much yet.
