4220 vs 4200

I would appreciate comments from anyone who upgraded from a 4200 to a 4220 regarding differences in the OS and speed or any other material factors.

Thanks!

It may also help if you could give some information as to what you use your NAS for.

A key difference is that the 4220 running OS6 doesn't have the expansion limitations that the 4200 running OS4 had.

There's also the new OS with the BTRFS filesystem with features that helps with data protection. Features such as unlimited snapshots, bitrot protection against media degradation etc. can be quite useful and are set at a per share level (they are appropriate for some use cases, but not for others).

Backups are still important, of course. If you get a 4220 you may wish to backup to your 4200v2.

Remember that your 4200v2 has a 5 year limited hardware warranty.

The 4220 also has a 5 year limited hardware warranty. The 4220 also comes with lifetime chat support and 5 year NBD replacement.
