6TB hard drive - Will it work in my readynas Pro 6 Business?

Just noticed that seagate came out with a 6TB hard drive... was wondering if it'd work in the older model readynas pro 6 business edition or if I'd have to get one of the new 6 bays models (316 or 516)

I know they don't have any on the HCL list but was wondering if anyone got their hands on one and tried it out in a new (or older) machine yet...

Thanks!

  • yes it should work fine assuming using the latest firmware.

still keep in mind there are expansion restrictions that your likely to start hitting with large drives...

    - 8tb lifetime expansion limit, meaning from whatever size the current volume was initialized at, +8tb
    - 16tb expansion ceiling. to exceed 16tb usable space requires a factory default with all drives in place.

It also is spec'd at > 11 watts typical power. That might be an issue.
