Added a new Drive (Seagate ST2000DL003 ) - getting errors
Hi.
My readynas pro had a pair of ST31000340AS drives.
I added a Seagate ST2000DL003 (cheap and I'll slowly replace them all to 2TB) due to lack of space.
Ever since I did that - I am getting a mail more than once a week suggesting a raid rebuild due to harddrive reset...
This is my smart info for the new drive:
Model: ST2000DL003-9VT166
Serial: 6YD0FY62
Firmware: CC32
Spin Up Time 0
Start Stop Count 4
Reallocated Sector Count 0
Power On Hours 168
Spin Retry Count 0
Power Cycle Count 4
G-Sense Error Rate 0
Power-Off Retract Count 3
Load Cycle Count 4
Temperature Celsius 31
Current Pending Sector 0
Offline Uncorrectable 0
UDMA CRC Error Count 0
Head Flying Hours 9152575307944
ATA Error Count 0
Hot-add events 0
Hot-remove events 0
Lp stat events 86
Power glitches 0
Hard disk resets 1
Retries 1
Repaired sectors 0
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Does anyone know if there is a specific problem with this drive? do I need to return it and hope for greater luck with the new drive or should I try getting a different drive?
Thanks.

- de_niroGuideWhich firmware?Seagate ST2000DL003 is on the Hardware Compatibility List of Readynas, you don't need to worry about this warning message unless current penting sectors parameter changes.
- GibsonLPAspirantLatest firmware.
I should not worry having SATA resets??? - PapaBear1ApprenticeIt might be a good idea to back up all your data and then go into Volume Setting and click on the resync button. The hard drive reset is a new one on me.
- GibsonLPAspirantThanks.
What do you mean by "new one on you"?
This is the mail I got yesterday:
A SATA reset has been performed on one or more of your disks that may have affected the RAID parity integrity. It is recommended that you perform a RAID volume resync from the RAID Settings tab ( accessible in the Volumes page => Volume tab in FrontView ). The resync process will run in the background, and you can continue to use the ReadyNAS in the meantime.
I already did a reset once a few days ago. It doesn't look like it is too stable. - GibsonLPAspirantAnyone? please?
Should I just replace the disk and hope to get a better one or is it a known issue with ST2000DL003 and NV+?
Thanks. - GibsonLPAspirantI went to replace the drive but was told that my drive is just fine... :(
The guy said that he checked it with the Seagate tool and found no errors. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredPlease run the "Disk Test" boot option: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu
- GibsonLPAspirantGood idea, thanks!
I will do that.
I have no physical access to this unit so it will take me a day or two. Aside from a (multiple) disk failure - is my data safe? - klosz007AspirantHello,
I also recently replaced two Samsung HD154UI 1,5TB drives with two Seagate ST2000DL003 2TB drives (9VT166 model with CC32 firmware) in my Duo and I am also getting SATA reset messages suggesting RAID resync (the appear during each reboot) ever since.
However I am not sure if the issue is because of the new drives or new firmware because I upgraded from 4.1.7 to 4.1.8 the same day. - PapaBear1ApprenticeAre either of you running Macs?
