Silly question, but the RJ45 end of your cable is plugged into the Data port of the UPS, right? Not one of the network ports?
I have the NV+ rather than the Pro2 but I don’t remember having to do anything special for either my current UPS (550GI, same as you) or its predecessor (500i) in order to get the ReadyNAS to recognise it.
There’s an option to configure the ReadyNAS to monitor a UPS across the network using NUT instead, though I doubt that’s the default option. I can't remember if having that set would prevent the ReadyNAS from recognising a directly-connected UPS. Worth checking just in case...
