Bad uninstall caused "Cannot connect discovery server" error

Not much of a tip, more a heads up. I had a bad unistall (interrupted), this left a .conf in the apache2 sites directory. This causes apache to die and http to go off line. The system reported "Cannot connect discovery server".
The fix was to ssh in to the box (no http no web front end) and delete the unistalled applications conf file - each app has it own apache .conf file.

There is a fix for the app uninstall issue in 6.2.3 Beta:

Thanks for the information of the 6.2.3 beta firmware and glad to hear that there is a solution to the problem.

I am having a RN102 and is having the same problem, I un-installed a app but it failed, then the local web admin went down.

Unforturnately I don't have SSH enabled, and seems I don't have FTP too (I will enable them if I can get the web working again!). So do you know how can I inject this new firmware into the NAS?

I looked around and finally got a link below but looks like they (Netgear) have the USB recovery tool moved out of the page, my last hope gone...

    Thanks in advance!
  • One way is to remove your existing drives (labeling by slot) and insert a scratch disk (which will be over-written).

The NAS will install the 6.2 firmware onto the scratch drive. After that, you can upgrade the firmware to 6.2.3 beta.

The shut down the NAS, and reinsert the original drives in the original slots. The NAS will then install 6.2.3 beta onto the drives (from its flash memory), and your web interface should come back up.
