Netgear offers ReadyCloud for remote access - and that doesn't depend on insight or Netgear routers at all.  It's a service built into the NAS, that connects to the ReadyCloud internet servers.

There are other ways to get remote access.

    • Many routers support OpenVPN, and that gives you full access to your home network.
    • There is a service called ZeroTier that lets you construct a multi-site VPN - and there is an app available for it on the NAS.
    • There is also a package called "OwnCloud" that you can get from rnxtras.com that is similar to ReadyCloud - but doesn't depend on a cloud service.

So if ReadyCloud doesn't work out well for you, post back and we can explore the other approaches.
