Connecting mac book air with Lion to NAS NV+ directly

Thanks I do have the USB ethernet adaptor.
ok I go to System Preference >> Network >> Ethernet >> Configure IPv4: Manually
but what numbers do I plug in:
IP address???
subnet mask???
router??? (I guess nothing here since it is a direct connection right?)
(I am a beginner in these things and know nothing about networking).
