"Control Panel" Access

ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus

Firmware 4.2.31

Hello.

I tried to log in to this NAS and it would not accept my password. Repeated attempts failed.

I finally noticed the pop-up box was saying "Control Panel," whether that makes any difference; I'd never really paid attention, and I used the same password for accessing the device UI as for accessing the shares.

https://192.168.1.137 is requesting your username and password. The site says: “Control Panel”

No amount of user set and default username and password combinations worked, so I did an OS install from the Boot Menu.

This time it said "My Shares" and that failed too.

So I have done a Factory Reset (fortunately the NAS was empty of any files) and the system is presently completing the syncing process according to RAIDar. It states that I should be able to access the system but "performance and UI responsiveness may be affected."

https://192.168.1.137/shares/

It still will not authorize with the default username and password of admin and password.

What are the proper default credentials, and how do I access the regular UI?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

The default password for a NAS running 4.2.x firmware is netgear1, not password.

However, if you have converted your Ultra Plus to run OS 6 firmware, then the default password would be password.

But if you are running 4.2.x firmware, you will run into another issue - the older systems use TLS 1.0, and the browsers have recently deprecated that (and require TLS 1.2).  There is more information on this here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/New-ReadyNAS-Users-General/Workaround-for-ERR-SSL-VERSION-OR-CIPHER-MISMATCH-problem-for/m-p/2198243

Note you can still use internet explorer to access web ui.  Other options are in the link above.

Fantastic! That worked. Thank you StephenB.

I did notice when I tried Chrome and Opera it did not like the UI and refused to budge.

Fortunately I have been using an older version of Firefox (Mac) for a number of reasons, and it still works happily with this NAS UI.

I do greatly appreciate the insight though, and that you took the time to address that important issue proactively.

You are a Guru for a reason!

      Cheers.
