Drive SMART Errors

Hi all,

I have 4x WDC WD2002FAEX drives (identical) in a Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra 4 PLUS. I just got a warning at a reboot today that a couple disks have some SMART reported errors.

Are these things I could get the drives RMA'd for? Or do I have to wade through it until they really fail? Will Western Digital RMA drives with these SMART error reports or will I need to backup the data and then run their tool?

I absolutely cannot lose data on this RAID, so I guess it's time to backup the backup.

Here's what I see:

You should make sure you have multiple important copies of important data regardless.

Probably not enough errors yet to warrant an RMA.

50 Reallocated sectors or ATA errors or a non-zero current pending sector count would probably warrant an RMA.

Western Digital would probably want you to run WD LifeGuard Diagnostics on the disks before returning it. If when they run their tool it finds no issues with the disks they might conclude that the disks didn't need replacing in the first place.
