Duo V1 and ST1000DM003-9YN162 contability

About a year ago I bought a 1TB Seagate Barracuda ST31000528AS for My readynas Duo (v1)to supplement the 500GB seagate drive that came with it. This drive was on the hardware Compatibility list.

I went to Best buy this week to upgrade the 500 GB drive so as to have a full 1TB of storage. I found a drive labelled as ST310005N1A1AS-RK on the box which, according to some information on line, is the retail kit version of ST31000528AS.

I just installed the drive and radiator is syncronizing it, but much to my surprise front-view reports it as ST1000DM003-9YN162!!

I do not see ST1000DM003-9YN162 on the hardware Compatibility list for the DUO v1. Does anyone know if I am fine sticking with the ST1000DM003-9YN162 on my duo v1 or will I have problems.

Thanks,
Brad

  • Is there an easy way to see which firmware is already on the drive? The drive has been installed in my duo for a few weeks now and I have not noticed any drive issues I am wondering if perhaps it already has CC4H or newer on it.

Note: I can ssh to the drive so if there is a command line system utility that will show the drive's bio version I can use that.
  • You can see it with Frontview. Select status->health, then click on the "SMART+" for the drive. You will get a pop-up that includes a lot of drive stats, including the firmware.
  • Thanks for the tip.

It turns out CC4H is the firmware version on the drive already!!
