Eaton 5115 (and hundreds of other models with USB) supported
TL;DR - it works, upload the Eaton IPP Linux (amd64 or arm) rpm file on the Apps panel, and then RTFM on the Eaton website for instructions or access :4679 with admin/admin. Ignore the UPS warnings from ReadyNAS services.
So, I could successfully connect my Eaton 5115 on the RN316 NAS model. When wiring the USB port, many error messages popped up and arrived in my email inbox. An unknown UPS model is found, but is unsupported. After looking around, looking for ConnectUPS-E things (which are more expensive than the UPS themselves), I suddenly found a software package that claimed to be for newer models. In fact, every Eaton model with an USB port will be supported by Eaton's IPP software, and my NAS running 6.2.4 had let it install on the Apps page without problems. Once installed, I could discover the network port on which the Eaton IPP web interface was running: Port 4679. The default user credentials were admin/admin. From the web interface, I could also control actions such as sending mails or shutting down the system when encountering UPS problems. While this works as a charm, the ReadyNAS OS is still spamming error messages in the admin interface and in my mail account. It is possible to turn off some of these messages (harddrive full, cooler), but not for unsupported UPS warnings (Netgear, would you fix that pl0x!).
Depending on your NAS, you might need to download the arm (smaller ones) or amd64 (powerful ones with Intel's Atom processors) version of the IPP software from Eaton. Downloading it requires you to fill a basic questionaire about your UPS model and operating system.
Although the ReadyNAS OS itself won't support them, the IPP software from Eaton integrates nicely into the server as a background daemon.
Edit: RS232-only UPS would also be supported using IPP, had the ReadyNAS server just got a serial port. But we can't have everything, can we?

Hello Björn_Eberhardt,
I am new to this forum and I have read your post with attention.
Here can I download the arm version of the IPP software from Eaton? I have already filled the basic questionaire about your UPS model and operating system.
Thanks in advance,

That software isn't here (this is just ReadyNAS stuff). You need to contact Eaton somehow.

You will find the software Eaton IPP on Eaton's website. You may need to register or enter serial numbers to see download links. I don't remember, sorry :'(
Edit: did you ever read my initial post entirely? (Yes, there is a TL;DR summary. I shouldn't have done that.)
