EDA500 Hard Disk List?

So, a trip to http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20641 gets me a dropdown list with a choice of every ReadyNAS device except my EDA500, so should I just use my RN316 instead?

Actually I think the EDA500 should get its own list it that should be similar to the lists for the 316 and 516 units.

I didn't think the EDA500 was available for purchase yet.

It's definitely [finally] available - got mine from Provantage Friday.

I agree that the EDA500 should have a "list" - even if it's only a single entry that says "Use the list for the ReadyNAS device that your EDA500 is connected to".

Netgear isn't going to get anything but grief for refusing warranty service for users that fail to use disks on the HCL but also failing to provide a HCL ... so that all EDA500 users are implicitly non-compliant with the non-existent HCL.

Disks in the EDA500 would probably be under similar stress to disks in the 316 or 516. I would use NAS disks or enterprise disks. I would avoid using SSDs in the EDA500. If you want to use SSDs you should use those in the main chassis to get optimal performance.

My understanding is that it is strongly recommended to install the next firmware release (6.1.3?) which should be available soon before connecting an EDA500 unit.

OK, will look for 6.1.3 before firing it up - thanks

6.1.3 is now available, so install that then connect the EDA500.
