Fan 1 reported failed on NV+. Do I need a PWM 4-pin replacement fan?
Hello, I have an NV+ (older one - I believe it uses a Sparc). I'm getting notificatinons that Fan 1 has failed. It doesn't look like it has failed - as it is still spinning, but it does show 0 ...

Thanks for the response, but I can't really see the answer to my question anywhere. Lots of the links don't work either. I just want to know if I need a 3-pin fan or a 4 pin PWM chasis fan on an NV+.
thanks!

Somewhat. From what I can see, it is a 3-pin, but nothing i've read explicitly confirms that. I've ordered one - i'll post the results when I swap it out.

The NV+ (v1) is an evolutionary improvement over a product released over 10 years ago. So it is quite old hardware now.
With more recent ReadyNAS such as our current models we would use PWM.- aris1234May 17, 2016AspirantHow is fan speed controlled on the NV+ without PWM?
