Hard drive firmware Update

Question

There is a firmware update for my NAS drives, how easy is it to update?By the looks of things I'll need to format the drives and update the firmware in Windows..ST1000NE0004&nbsp;&nbsp;

I was assuming you meant the NAS firmware, not the drives (despite your title).&nbsp; Upgrading the disk firmware on a PC was the easiest approach.

The storage device firmware upgrade does commonly not require re-formatting the on-disk-structure. Granted, some descriptions talk about anti-virus scanning of the disk for whatever reason...
