If you boot the NAS into tech support mode (http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu) does it show up in RAIDar (http://www.readynas.com/downloads)? Monitor the NAS in RAIDar and it may tell you if a disk has failed.
