HGST Deskstar NAS H3IKNAS40003272SN(0S03664)

Hello,
Is anyone using the HGST Deskstar NAS H3IKNAS40003272SN(0S03664) 4TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" High-Performance Hard Drive for Desktop NAS Systems drive in the RN516.
They are not on the HCL, but have received good reviews on various Vendor sites.

Kind of wondering if Netgear has tested them or is scheduled to test them as they would be a good midlevel priced drive.

Also for the RN516 users what drives are you currently using and have you experienced any drive issues or issues with high drive temperature?

Regards,

Kennbatch1

  • I'm using 4 3tb RED drives. With the door closed I range from 89-95 degrees and open it's from 82-87 generally. This is under no load. Of course the two sandwiched drives typically run about one degree higher than the others.

  • Thanks for the reply. From what I have read some of the Enterprise Class drives may run hot in the RN516. I was interested in the HGST Deskstar NAS H3IKNAS40003272SN(0S03664) as it classified as a NAS Drive 7200 RPM and has an MBTF of 1 million hours. Cost is about $190.
