How do I reset my ReadyNAS Ultra 2 password so that I can access it?
Hello! I bought this NAS in 2011 or 2012. I installed the hard drives but never got around to use it. This summer I did a complete wipe of the NAS because I had forgotten the password. Quite stupi...
It seems that the password/username reverted back to admin/netgear1 so I got access to the system!
But if someone knows the answer to the other two questions I would be grateful.

To see what OS your are using download RAIDar to your MAC from here http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/ReadyNAS/RAIDar_Mac_4_3_8.dmg
This will give you info about your Ultra and let you Browse it and enter Setup
where you should update to the latest versions of Raidiator (your OS), the current version is 4.2.29
Thank you for your reply. The name of the app I'm using is -as you correctly write- RAIDar, not RAIDiator.
I have 6.1.
Using it takes me to web based interface. Where do I find info on OS?

The OS is the firmware.
The above screenshot shows 6.6.0 firmware - shortened to OS 6 here.The x86 legacy NAS (like yours) run 4.2.x firmware - shortened to OS 4.2 or OS 4. The original sparc platforms runs4.1.x firmware, shortened to OS 4.1 or OS 4.
It is possible to convert your ultra to run OS 6 - but you will lose Netgear support. The conversion process destroys all the data on your NAS, so you'd need a backup before you begin. I wouldn't do that just to get ReadyCloud.
On first screen under "Status"
"Firmware" x.x.x
Since the OP has already Factory Reset, now would perhaps be a good time to go for the OS6 upgrade (Readycloud aside) to enjoy the features it offers
