In order to not have to do that process again, how do I reset password/username?
There is an OS re-install process that you can also use to reset the admin password on the NAS w/o destroying data. That is described on pages 12-13 of the hardware manual here: http://www.readynas.com/download/documentation/HM/ReadyNAS_Ultra_UltraPlus_Pro_HW_13April11.pdf
It also resets the network configuration do use DHCP. But it shouldn't destroy any data.
