How to upgrade memory on Pro (x86)?
Hello,
At first my Pro came with 2x500Mb memory sticks. Then a few years back I wanted to upgrade to 2x2Gb sticks but the Pro wouldn't accept them. I don't remember which FW version i was running then.
I tried many approaches including going to a computer lab where we could try different types of memory sticks and permute them.
In the end the tech diagnosed that one bank in the Pro board was bad, so I settled with 1x2Gb memory stick (6-6-6-18 DDR2).
The thing is it still works with 2x500Mb sticks so I guess that the 2 banks are good, unlike what the tech guy said.
I really would like to have my Pro upgraded to 2x2Gb.
Isn't there a more "scientific" approach to that?
BTW, if that can help, I have a hardware add-on in the pro that allows me to hook it to a screen and actually see the boot sequence and the BIOS, and I also have SSH to the Pro.
Thanks

Nobody has an answer or nobody cares? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredTake a look at the community hardware compatibility list for memory: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=110
You can actually put 2x4GB sticks in a ReadyNAS Pro.
There is a VGA header on the motherboard as mentioned here: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=223230#p223230. Some old graphics cards came with a VGA header cable that works with that header. If you run the "Memory Test" boot option the progress should be shown on a connected display.
