There is a community add-on for BitTorrent: http://readynasxtras.com/readynas-arm-add-ons/transmission-arm
As for FTP this is added in 5.3.5 (currently in public beta: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=148&t=62728). For now on 5.3.4 the RemoteiPhone add-on (see http://www.readynas.com/RAIDiator_arm_5_3_4_Notes) is needed to enable FTP for access via ReadyNAS Remote.
