inproper shutdown every night like clockwork

What is strange to me is that on the NV, and improper shutdown would not result in a power up when power is restore. On the x-86 based model, yes, if they are manually shut down properly or have an improper shutdown, once power is restored to the unit, they will power back up and do a resync if necessary. If you improperly shut down or properly shut down an NV or NV+ (which I have), applying power will result in no action.
Just confirmed with my NV+ which at this time has no data. Unplugged it, plugged it back in and it just sat there. On reboot it started the synch process.
I also would be suspicious of the power, especially the UPS. But it is not every day, either. Any momentary or short term power disruption should be handled by the UPS.
How old are the batteries in the UPS?
Do you have another UPS that you can swap in for a test?
