Is my Barracuda 3TB failing? (SMART errors)
I received an email from my ReadyNAS Ultra 4 today warning about SMART errors: "Detected increasing uncorrectable errors[40] on disk 2 [ST3000DM001-9YN166, W1F0LMW9]. This often indicates an impend...
40 "current pending sectors" means that 40 disk reads have failed. If you were to write to those sectors, they probably would have been re-allocated.
So it does appear to be failing. If you can put the drive into a PC, try running seatools.
