Moblock (IP Blocker) for ReadyNAS

Hi,

I've been investigating the install and config of Moblock for my ReadyNAS, but with my relatively limited knowledge of debian packages, I've hit a bit of a brickwall. Has anyone been able to install Moblock?

From what I can tell so far, there are no Debian packages available for the ReadyNAS architecture. On the Moblock site they have only Ubuntu and Debian 4.0 (Etch) packages available, however the site does state that you can install Moblock for all architectures - though following the instructions provided on the site just dead-ends (errors).

Cheers

  • It seems there is no kernel support for IPTables which is necessary for Moblock to work... looks as though you cannot use Moblock as a result, unless you recompile the kernel - which sounds like a long dangerous path to take.

Think this one is a no go for the ReadyNAS.
  • It is for P2P... thanks for the tip on the add-on.

I see it supports encryption, however I can't see any option to configure IP Blocking. Does this have to be done via the console or am I missing something here? I also notice after some investigation that there is a newer version (1.50d) than the one available in the add-ons, which one should I be using? Does v1.42 support the IP Blocking functionality?

    Thanks again
  • 1.42 and 1.50e are supporting ip blocking. Nothing to do a cron is downloading an updated filter list every day
  • Great, thanks.

For your information your install script installs the cron job to cron.dayly instead of cron.daily so it wont work. I have just manually moved it to the correct folder.

Is there a change log for 1.50e that I can view and should I be upgrading to the latest version? Are there bugs in 1.42 or have you simply added new functionality?

    Thanks again
  • the cron.dayly typo is corrected in 1.50e and normaly in last 1.42 :), I will check again when back at home
  • iptables looks to be fully present on my 4.2.18 pro 6. Tempted to try installing moblock so I can switch to utorrent, but I haven't done anything manually yet and I'm thinking I should start with user mode rather than kernel :-). Has anyone tried to get moblock working lately?

    steve
