Moving 314 disks to 104 Compatibility?
Hi,
I purchased a ReadyNAS 104. purely as a test unit for use in times of Urgent needs. Example: Should a clients the 312 OR 314 fail, to be able to place the drives into the 104 while main unit is fixed/Replaced.
Can I confirm if there is a method of view the Files held on the 314 disks if placed into the 104 model. To simpliy things for this question. Lets assume its just a single JBOD drive.
Cheers

Going from a 104 to a 314 would work. The other way, I don't think would work.

To be honest, stupidly, I thought OS6 was the common OS to all and in turn HDD could be read across different units (seemed logical...........or so I thought). So, why one way and not the other?
Cheers

The RN100 and RN200 use ARM processors, and the RN300 and above use x86 processors. The instruction sets are completely different. The x86 system hardware includes support for migration of the ARM software to x86, but the ARM systems don't have that support.
You might want to create a feature request in the ideas exchange for this enhancement (https://community.netgear.com/t5/Idea-Exchange-for-ReadyNAS/idb-p/idea-exchange-for-storage?date-range=all). While there, you could vote for other ideas that you'd likely use if they were provided.
