I got my WD 3TB RED disks from as many as three or four different batches. I bought them from three different resellers. I'm also using dual-redundancy so I have some protection against two disk failures.
Inevitably users that have issues tend to post much more than users who don't.
Personally I haven't had my WD RED disks for long enough to know if they were a good buy or not for me, but then you never know till it is time to replace them again.
