NAS recommendation
I need to replace my old Readynas NV+. I don’t really want to, but it no longer supports my Sonos music library due to its SMB 1 rating. I found a used Netgear RND214 on eBay for a good price sans dr...

The RN214 should work. But all ReadyNAS are end of life. AsusStor, QNAP, Synology are all possible NAS alternatives. (Just starting points - I don't own these NAS).
However, the simplest solution for Sonos is to copy your music to a PC share. That does require that the PC be turned on when streaming your music. There are quite a few options for small form factor PCs (1 liter) that are suitable if you need a dedicated always-on platform. You don't need to build a full NAS - ordinary Windows is enough to do what you need.
Then use your NV+ only for backup.
