Need 2Tb Drive Recommendation. URGENT HELP NEEDED
OK, before many users tell me to see the recommendation list of HDD's, I already have, and we ordered some Seagate ST2000DL003 Hard Drives, only to find they are NOT compatible with the NV+ RAID due to the ' FLUSH CACHE EXT" hang problem on the drive', and sure enough we had a nightmare getting this to even see the drives, so these have now been returned, but I need a good recommendation that will work! Seagate being my prefered supplier just agreed that the ST2000DL003 is not suitable for a RAID drive, but they cannot / will not recommend me an alternitive, except to state that No drive with the 'ECO' label attached to it should be used in a RAID!
Can ANYONE please recommend me a drive that I can purchase from AMAZON that will work, but please not Western Digital, I have had 8 of these fail in 12 new PC's that we purchased just 9 months ago, so we have now swapped out the others just in case they fail to, so I have no confidence in that manufacturer!
Any other suggestions???
James

- MD0MDIAspirantPLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME OUIT HERE!!!! THIS IS VERY URGENT !!!!!
- I've been running 2 Spinpoint F4 HD204UI 2TB quite happily, and they are on the HCL.
They did need a firmware though, as they did have a few issues in NAS units until FW was upgraded. Plenty of info on these boards about it. - MD0MDIAspirantThanks but I not really happy using a drive that requires a firmware update, plus this is an ECO drive which are not made for RAID units, thanks anyway, I am hoping that Netgear Support will help me out soon, especially as I have noticed that there compatibitly list is wrong to start with!
- MD0MDIAspirantPlease Can Netgear Support HELP me out here, this is URGENT!
- emk1AspirantBest advice for you is to contact support and create a ticket. No one here is going to drop everything and help you just because you're writing in CAPS. First step to help is to help yourself through the proper channels.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredTake another look at the compatibility list and choose one of the 7200RPM hard drives. Perhaps the Hitachi.
- rrileyAspirantI have two 2100's with the Hitachi HUA722020ALA330 2 TB drives which were in the servers when I bought them from Netgear. Never any problems at all.
I just (Yesterday) replaced them with HUA723030ALA640 3TB drives which are just now becoming available again after the floods in Thailand so I have four of the 2TB drives that I was going to put on eBay. They are dated Feb 2011 and were on a server that was hardly used. I think these are enterprise rated for five years of continuous use (maybe it's 3 years, you can check).
If you are interested in them just email me: westcoastrader@nym.hush.com
