Make sure you have /admin at the end of the URL.  (https://nas-ip-address/admin - using the real NAS IP address of course).  If you run into the SSL protocol/CIPHER mismatch error in your browser, post back.

This is a clue that your NAS is running 4.2.x firmware.   It can be converted to run OS-6, so that is something to consider.

The default password for 4.2.x is netgear1.  The default for 6.x firmware is password.

First get into the web admin ui, and set the admin password you want.  It's best not to use the default.  Also see if you created any user accounts.  If you did, then you likely need to reset the password for the user account also.

Then if you are running 4.2.x firmware, go into "turn windows features on or off" and make sure the SMB 1/CIFS client is enabled.  

Try entering \\nas-ip-address in the file explorer address bar (again using the real NAS IP).  Make sure you are using the correct slash - // will open your web browser, which is not what you want.

You might also need add the NAS credentials to the Windows Credential Manager.
