Need to replace NV+, which model to choose?

Question

I have a 4.5 year old ReadyNAS NV+ (RND4000) with 4 drives in it.
It appears to have died. I'm guessing the power supply is bad as it simply wouldn't power on - no lights, no fan, nothing.

Is there a current model of ReadyNAS I can buy into which I can simply insert my current drives and continue on with accessing my data?

If you purchased new - the warranty on the NV+ v1 chassis (4.1.x firmware) is 5 years. &nbsp;So if you have a v1, then contact support (support.netgear.com) right away. &nbsp;I lost my PSU about a year ago, and Netgear shipped me a replacement PSU right away (under warranty).

An NV+ v2 (5.3.x firmware) has a 3 year warranty.

No. However, Netgear support can help you off-load the data if you get a new ReadyNAS. &nbsp;http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29876

Thanks StevenB. Unfortunately, according to https://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/26066 even the V1 only has a 3 year warranty (some up to 2010 had 5 year warranties, but those are expired by now too).

So it appears I'll need to explore the next options about using support to transfer the data. Thanks for the excellent link!

Just pick between a 4 bay or a 6 bay ReadyNAS OS 6 model (RN104, RN204, RN214, RN314, RN316, and RN516).

The best warranties are on the business NAS (RN3xx and above). &nbsp;5 years on hardware and lifetime free chat support. see&nbsp;http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/26066/~/readynas-support-and-warranty

The RN1xx and RN2xx have 3 year hardware warranties but only 90 days of free software/installation support.
&nbsp;
If you want a home model: &nbsp;The RN214 is the best choice if you do a lot of video streaming. &nbsp;With Plex it supports on-the-fly video transcoding. &nbsp;If that isn't a need, then even the RN1xx is quite a bit faster than your NAS. But at current street prices I'd go for an RN20x instead. &nbsp;

Thanks to you both BrianL and StephenB.It appears that the 104 is plenty enough for this client - it's pretty simple storage space for them.&nbsp;So it appears the real issue is about the transfer of data, and if I understand correctly, I'll have to contact Netgear support to determine if this is possible from the NV+ V1 to an RN104.&nbsp;If the data transfer is difficult or impossible, I might have to reconsider looking for a power supply for NV+ as the possibly simplest way forward. I'm not sure that's the issue, but it's a reasonable guess.&nbsp;O how I wish I could tell all people everywhere that they don't have a backup if their data is only in ONE place. Sheesh!For instance, the phrase "I backed up my data to the NAS and deleted it from my computer" is just plain wrong. :-)
