New Seagate NAS Drives
Although i cannot find them directly on the Seagate website, I see that Seagate is releasing new drives specifically for NAS drives: ST2000VN000, ST3000VN000 and ST4000VN000.
Does anyone have an official link for these drives?
I wonder how long it will take for these to appear on the HCL.

- tiranorAspirantIsn't that just a typo ?
I've also looked, and they look like the sv35 series, with VN instead of VM. - spinaltap1AspirantI have now found further details. They were launched April, 2013 - and they are specifically for NAS'.

They are showing up as being available to buy on several UK websites, including Amazon, DABS, and InSight, for example. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserInteresting - looks like they are finally reacting to the WDC Red series. Probably good for consumers, esp. having the 4 TB model in the mix.
I notice that Netgear is not included on the list of devices they tested with. Also, I am not seeing any warranty information. Prices are similar to the RED series (the 3 TB red is slightly cheaper than the equivalent Seagate on Amazon at the moment). - ihartleyTutorIMHO (of course) more hype and cost for TLER config. But I am sure they will work perfectly in any NAS, regardless of any HCL marketing (again IMHO). Of course I'd buy them, (usually) extended warranty and TLER for an extra few bucks. But I think a lot of it is elephant dust!

It looks like these drives come with a three year warranty.
Here's a review, with a comparison with the WD Red drives.
http://www.storagereview.com/seagate_nas_hdd_review - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThx for sharing the review. Though I would have liked to see the Seagate 3 TB drive included in the mix, to get a like-to-like comparison.
- tiranorAspirantPretty interesting, the 4TB model may be a choice when i'll have to replace my current ones, or just for my next nas.
- vandermerweMasterBoth Qnap and synology have these drives on their HCLs, Netgear do not.
Western Digital planning to release 4tb red and 5 tb red by the end of the year.
These drives are marketed for NAS devices, surely Netgear would prioritise testing to support its customer base.
Yet another reason to look elsewhere for your NAS. I'm really trying to find reasons to stick with Netgear, this forum is fast becoming the only one. - mtakacsAspirantJust got a newletter from newegg with a sale on these drives

Doesn't look like the ST3000VN000 has made it to the HCL yet (July 2013), price point is tempting tho, especially with coupon code "EMCXNXW22" bringing it down to $150
Anyone any any anecdotal experience trying these drives yet?
-Mark - dtarinLuminaryI went ahead and bought two of the ST2000VN000 since they were on sale. I know they're not on the HCL but they'll mostly likely still work. I don't think there's anything to worry about. Waiting for them to arrive and then I'll just add them to my NVX.
