Newbie How many PCs can connect
Very much a newbie question, but I have hunted through the topics, it is probably such a silly question that its not registered.
We have 10 machines all connected to a single PC running XP (yes I know we are very old) Pro in a simple peer to peer type setup. We share a few files centrally for data processing.
We have a need to add 2-4 more machines which will take us over the XP connections limit, we have a copy of Windows SBS 2011 but it refuses to work with our XP machines and I am trying to avoid a costly upgrade of everything in our office just to add a couple more machines. (The existing workstations all work fine because the workload is very low level)
Can I connect an NAS system like Duo v2 to allow these 14 or so users to share some files or folders or will I still be limited by the XP limit ? We would probably need a system that allows RAID mirroring across either 2 or 4 drives.
Sorry if this is a stupid question. We have spent 3 months messing about with SBS 2011 and have now given up and are looking for an easy option. We don't need any form of remote access.
Thanks in advance

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe Operating System on the ReadyNAS is based on Debian Linux. You can connect several times the number of clients you have to the unit. There is no licensing per client machine or user unlike Windows. However I would recommend an Intel model (e.g. Ultra/Pro) rather than an ARM model (e.g. Duo v2). If you think you might need more than two drive bays get a 4-bay unit. Using X-RAID2 with say 4x1TB drives you could store 3 times as much data as using 2x1TB drives.
Welcome to the forum! - GW1966AspirantMany thanks mdgm, thats the sort of answer I was expecting, the past few months with Microsoft has made me question everything.
I am off the the NAS shop today.
Thanks again for your very prompt reply
